Get to know Dean Berit Gundersen ’84, PharmD — pharmacist, alumna and leader — through an interactive virtual Q&A.

Dean Gundersen has served in the role of dean of the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy since July 2022. A proud alumna, Dean Gundersen earned her doctor of pharmacy from University of Pacific. She understands the challenges and rewards of post-graduate training having completed a residency at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington D.C. and a pediatric pharmacotherapy fellowship at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn. 

As a daughter of Norwegian immigrants and a proud first-generation college graduate, she deeply empathizes with students who are trailblazers. Through her experience as a faculty member and preceptor, Dean Gundersen understands one of the keys to be a successful pharmacist is the ability to step into interdisciplinary health care teams. She helped launch University of the Pacific’s School of Health Sciences in 2020 which now partners with the School to offer unique collaborations and interprofessional education.
